Unit Project: E-Panel

E-Panel
E-Panel

The final project for this unit is to construct an Electronics Panel, or E-Panel, with the rest of the components that are on your board.
Use the following wiring diagram to make the proper connections.

Requirements

  • Basic Design Requirements
    1. Design and build a foam core E-Panel.
    2. The design should contain an Arduino, motor (and Motor Control Board), battery, and a Distance Sensor.
    3. The wiring must be labeled and well-organized.
  • Build Requirements
    1. You can use any wires or connectors from previous steps.
    2. The design be contained within one foam board.
    3. The wiring should include conduit, and wire labels.
    4. (Optional) You can upload a program to your Arduino that has the motor reacting to the Distance Sensor.
  • Workmanship
    1. Mount all the pieces securely. Nothing should come loose when shaken.
    2. All wiring should be neat, of the proper length, and securely attached.

Scoring Characteristics

  • Core Functions 30 points
All of the components must be connected properly (using the correct pins on the components).
  • Workmanship: Shake Test 10 points
When shaken firmly, the E-Panel must stay intact. No rattling of parts should be heard or felt.
  • Workmanship: Neatness 10 points
All wires should be of a proper length and use proper connectors -- no extra loops should be present, and connections should not be secured with tape where a connector is more appropriate (for instance, using electrical tape instead of a spade connector on a screw terminal).
  • Bonus: Unique Improvements +5 points / additional design
+5 bonus points for a customized program on the Arduino using the components available on the E-Board.
