CS2N Privacy Policy
Information We Collect
CS2N collects information that you provide directly to us and information provided by services that you choose to use with CS2N. Depending on how you use CS2N, this may include your name, email address, username, account settings, course activity, group membership, and other information needed to provide CS2N features.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Google Sign-In and Google Classroom
When you choose to sign in with Google, CS2N may receive your Google account identifier, email address, first name, and last name for authentication and account setup.
If you choose to use Google Classroom integration, CS2N may request additional permissions needed to view your classes and rosters and to create or manage classwork, materials, topics, assignments, and grades on your behalf. CS2N uses these permissions only to provide the Google Classroom features you choose to use.
Organization Single Sign-On
CS2N may allow users to sign in through a school district, university, or other organization's OpenID Connect (OIDC) identity provider. When you use Organization Single Sign-On, the identity provider may send CS2N information needed to identify and authenticate your account, such as the identity provider or organization, a unique account identifier, your email address, and your first and last name when those values are provided by the organization.
CS2N uses this information to authenticate you and to create, identify, or link your CS2N account. CS2N does not receive or store the password that you use with your school district, university, or organization's identity provider.
Cookies and Analytics
CS2N uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for site operation, including authentication, security, session management, and remembering certain user choices. These necessary cookies are required for CS2N to function.
With your permission, CS2N also uses Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager to understand how the site is used and to improve CS2N. Analytics is not loaded until you choose to accept analytics. You may decline analytics and continue using CS2N.
You may change your analytics choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the site footer.
How We Use and Share Information
We use information to operate and secure CS2N, authenticate users, provide educational features, support users, improve the service, and provide integrations that users or organizations choose to use.
We do not share personal information with third parties except as necessary to provide or support requested services, to protect CS2N and its users, to comply with applicable law, or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
You may contact us to ask what information we have about you, request corrections, request deletion where applicable, or express concerns about our use of your information.
Security
We take precautions to protect information both online and offline. CS2N uses encrypted connections for information transmitted through the website, and access to personal information is limited to personnel who need it to perform their work.
If you believe CS2N is not following this Privacy Policy or you have a security or privacy concern, please contact us.
Registration
Some CS2N users create accounts directly, while others may access CS2N through accounts created by a teacher or organization or through an approved identity provider. Information requested during account creation is used to provide and administer the account and CS2N services. Optional demographic information may be used to better understand who uses CS2N.
Children's Personal Information
CS2N is used in educational settings and may be used by children. Users under age 13 may only disclose personal information through CS2N with the consent or authorization required by applicable law, including consent obtained by a parent, guardian, school, district, or teacher when permitted by law.
If we learn that personal information from a child was provided without required consent or authorization, or that information beyond what CS2N requests was provided, we will take appropriate steps to remove it. If you have a concern about a child's information, please contact support@cs2n.org.
Links and Third-Party Services
CS2N may contain links to other sites or use third-party services at a user's request. Those services may have their own privacy practices. We encourage users and organizations to review the privacy policies of third-party services they choose to use.
