EV3 Data Wires and Logic introduce the user to logic blocks and transferring data using data wires.

Even when robots are being remotely controlled, they are running a program that controls how they respond to the signals sent by the VEX IQ Controller. This module will teach users how to write programs that enable remote control of the VEX IQ robot.

Sensor mounts allow sensors to be positioned properly on a robot. In this unit, you will be creating a sensor mount using a 3D printer. You will be introduced to a 3D modeling software, loading a model, preparing the model for printing, and finally printing the model. The project will be to modify the model to align the holes in the chassis. 

In Mechanical Foundations, we are introduced to how to go about creating simple, yet durable structural foundations, essential for any robotics system. We begin by identifying important parts that help in creating simple structures, and creating examples of some simple structures. The project for this Unit, you will be creating a reinforcement crane to demonstrate your understanding of simple structural design.

Transmissions work alongside motors to allow systems to deliver more Torque or Speed to its spinning parts. For this unit, we’ll be taking a look into a few different examples to create Mechanical Advantage. The project will be to create a moving crane arm. 

Picking a drivetrain for your robot will greatly depend on the task that the robot is trying to achieve. The most basic drivetrain for a robot usually consists of a chassis, motors that are attached to the chassis, and wheels that are attached to the motor. This unit will have students building examples of drivetrains, and for the unit project they will design a custom drivetrain that can climb obstacles. 

In this project, students are asked to take inventory of the parts that are available in a kit. Students must keep track of progress using a checklist, and perform a series of tests with the system to ensure proper functionality. 

In this unit, students learn to assemble a robot kit in separate subsystems: Mobility, Power, and Control. The student then tests the system by running programs on the robot. 

In this unit, students learn to implement a vision-based system that provides navigation abilities, based on color, objects, and shapes. Users are expected to make mechanical adjustments, electrical re-wirings, and significant improvements to fully utilize the PixyCam on the Shieldbot.
