(Preview) Robot Coding Fundamentals with LEGO CS & AI (6-8)

Learn about fundamentals of coding robots with the LEGO® CS & AI (Grades 6-8) robot.

The Robot Coding Fundamentals with LEGO CS & AI (6-8) is an introductory, hands-on course where students learn core programming and robotics concepts using LEGO's CS & AI robotics kit. The course provides a structured sequence of programming activities in real-world project-based concepts. The projects are designed to get students thinking about the patterns and structure of planning, iteration, and implementation of programming and robotics. This curriculum includes videos, animations, and step-by-step lessons designed to help learners foster skills in robotics programming using the CS & AI hardware and Coding Canvas programming interface.

This course is currently in Preview Mode and is ongoing development. To leave feedback about this course, please fill out our feedback form.

Getting Started with LEGO® CS & AI

In this unit, you will learn how to get started with CS & AI's physical system and programming environment.  You will also engage with a mini-unit, where you will become familiar with LEGO CS & AI Coding Canvas, using it to write a script that plays a sound from your computer. You will learn about how to run multiple scripts using events.

Remote Control with LEGO® CS & AI

In this unit, you will learn how to pair and use the remote control to move the robot directionally. You will also learn how to map arrow keys to the single motor to remote control the arm. You will explore the controls, use coding to map more controls, and complete a culminating challenge.

Sensors & Program Flow with LEGO® CS & AI

In this unit, you will learn how to use the Color Sensor on the LEGO CS & AI robot. You will program your robot to perform simple sensing behaviors and respond to objects in its environment.
