Scoring Guidelines

The following table explains how your submission will be scored during evaluation. In order to meet all the standards, your submission should match the description in the "Meets All Requirements" box for each category. For example, if your submission has all three parts of a story (beginning, middle, and end), then it will score a 5 in Category 3: Story Structure. But if your submission does not have an ending, then it will score a 3 (since it only has two parts of a story).

 

1. Difficulty (Level Design)

1: Either the level has no challenge or is impossible to complete.

3: The level is either too difficult (though not impossible) or not difficult enough (but has some challenge).

5: The level is challenging but not impossible.

2. Uniqueness (Level Design)

1: The level does not introduce a new game element or does not use established game elements in a new way

3: The level stands out a little due to its attempt to use new game elements or new way of using established game elements

5: The level completely stands out due to its use of new game elements or use of established game elements in a new way

3. Challenge Length (Level Design)

1: The level may not have made great use of space or time - it was either too long or too short

3: The level made okay use of space and time - it may have been a little too long or a little too short

5: The level made great use of space and time - it wasn't too long or too short

4. Fun (Level Design)

1: This level was not very fun. I would not like to play it again.

3: This level was enjoyable. I wouldn't mind playing it again.

5: This level was a lot of fun! I want to play it more than once.

5. Grammar and Spelling (Instructions)

1: Several grammatical or spelling mistakes have been made.

3: A few grammatical or spelling mistakes have been made.

5: No spelling or grammar mistakes have been made

6. Concision (Instructions)

1: The instructions are not easy to read and understand.

3: The instructions are mostly easy to read and understand.

5: The instructions are easy to read and understand.
